Marie C. Olson

Marie C. Olson, age 80, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at her home. She was born on July 9, 1936, the daughter of Ernest and Hazel (Weimer) Schildgen. Marie graduated from Lancaster High School in 1953. On August 29, 1953, she was united in marriage to Larry L. Drew at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. Marie was employed at the Richgels Insurance Agency, Olson Refrigeration, and later, at Pioneer Motors. Larry preceded her in death in 1998. On May 24, 2000, Marie married Robert C. "Bob" Olson, Sr. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church. In retirement, Marie enjoyed her winters with Bob in Florida. She also enjoyed playing cards and keeping up with her family and their activities.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Olson; her children: Diane (John) Heinrichs; David (Deb), Dennis (Sandy), Dean (Cheryl) Drew; Denise (Kevin) Wiest; Donita (Chad) Evans; and Debra (Chuck) Lange; the Olson family: Robert (Sherree) Olson, Jr.; Terry (Susan) Olson; Diane (John) Drew; Kevin (Cathy), Kelly (Joanne), and Jeff Olson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister: Sally (Joe) Langkamp; a brother, Gerald Schildgen; many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Larry; a son-in-law, James Dean; brother, Joseph (Druscilla "Fuzzy") Schildgen; a daughter-in-law, LouAnn Olson; brother-in-law, Elmer Fenzau; sister-in-law, Florence Schildgen.

Funeral services were Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St., Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Reverend John Sasse officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery. Family and friends called on Friday, January 6, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m., until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Marie C. Olson Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is serving the family.
