Mary F. "Itsey" Wagner, age 98, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on November 26, 1918, the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth (Krogman) Welchert. Mary graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Bloomington. On December 29, 1938, she was united into marriage to William "Bill" Wagner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington. Together they farmed for many years in the Bloomington and Lancaster area. Mary was employed as a nurse's assistant for over 18 years at the former Lancaster Care Center. She was a devoted member of St. Clement Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court of St. Rita No. 670. Mary was also a member of the St. Clement Quilters and Bloomington/Little Grant Homemaker's Club. She dearly loved keeping up with her family and their activities.

Survivors include her children: David (Paula), Gene (LuAnn) Wagner; Sally (Leo) Skaife; Jane (Tom) Schill; Becky (Bill) Popp; a son-in-law, Clarence Kluesner; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Annie Wagner.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; a daughter, Joan Kluesner; her siblings: Hilda (Art) Krantz; Julia (Mike) Wagner; Joe (Delpha), John Welchert; Alma (Earl) Neis; and many members of the Wagner family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, May 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Reverend John Sasse officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Family and friends called on Sunday, May 7, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison, Lancaster, where a 3:45 p.m. Catholic Daughters rosary will be prayed. Friends may also call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
