 Mildred G. Carroll, age 102, of Lancaster, died on Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born on September 18, 1905 on a farm in South Lancaster Township, the first of two daughters born to John and Johanna (Pink) Hoffman. Mildred graduated from Lancaster High School and then married Thomas J. Carroll on December 27, 1923 in Lancaster. She spent her entire lifetime in the Lancaster area. Mildred was the mother of 13 children. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster.

She is survived by 11 children: Dorothy Fishnick, Lancaster; James (Carol) Carroll, Mauston; Walter (Marian) Carroll, Winona, MN; Paul (Joan) Carroll, Barefoot Bay, FL; Rose Mary Thompson, Lancaster; Ralph (June) Carroll, Lizella, GA; Richard (Kip) Carroll, Monroe; Donald (Karen) Carroll, Prairie du Chien; Lawrence (Susan) Carroll Circle Pines, MN; Robert (Nancy) Carroll, Crystal Lake, IL; and Kathleen (Richard) Lettman, Babson Park, FL; 56 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Robert Conohan, Elkhorn; and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Carroll, Lancaster.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 1969; her son, Roger; her daughter, Ruth Irwin; her parents; and her sister, Isabel Conohan.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Visitation was held Monday, March 24, 2008 from 4:00 6:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday morning.
