Nancy Lou Fleming

MCGREGOR, IA – Nancy Lou Fleming, age 93, of McGregor, IA, formerly of Prairie du Chien, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, IA. She was born on August 14, 1929, in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Charles E. and Stella R. (Blum) McLean. Nancy graduated from Galena High School and furthered her education at Cosmetology School in Dubuque, IA. She was employed at Rapid Die & Molding in Cassville as the production manager for over 31 years. On December 5, 1948, Nancy was united in marriage to Douglas Warren Charles Fleming and together they enjoyed many hobbies and interests such as hunting, fishing, trapping, bicycling, crafting, cross country skiing, canoeing, and ice skating. Nancy was a member of the Eastern Star for 64 years, initiated in 1958. She also drove school bus for Bagley students, was the co-owner of the Dry Hollow Rock and Gem, volunteered on the River Board, Black Powder Club, and other local organizations.

Survivors include her children: Doug Jr., (Sue) of Fennimore; Rhonda (Ken) Zutz, Longmont, CO; grandchildren: Dawn (Frank) Riley, Shelly (Jason) Hill, Zachary Fleming, Willie (Becky) Zutz, and Christopher Zutz; great-grandchildren: Leah (Alex) Chowanec, Peyton Riley, Hannah (Nick) Seiler and Skylar Fleming; one great-great grandchild: Brynlee Chowanec.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas, her son, Dana, her grandson, Gabriel Dana Fleming, and her siblings Barbara (Norman) Travis and John McLean.

Private family funeral services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster. Private family burial will be in the Avoca Cemetery, Avoca, WI.
