Nettie E. Schaefer, age 93, of Lancaster, died on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born on January 13, 1915, in Lancaster, one of nine children born to Grant and Ida Mae (Richardson) Atkinson. Nettie attended school in Slabtown. She married Carl Hochhausen in 1930 and farmed in Grant County. She later married Carl Schaefer. Nettie loved to dance, liked country western music, and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include her grandchildren: Randy Williams, Potosi; and Lisa Scholl, Potosi; six great-grandchildren: Ronnie (Brittney) Scholl, Cassville; Kyle, Luke, and Logan Scholl, Potosi; Maggie and Gunther Williams, Potosi; one great-great grandchild, Cameron Scholl, Cassville; one sister-in-law, Ginny Atkinson, Pinellas Park, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her daughter, Dolores Williams; three grandchildren: Johnny, Ronnie, and Rita; five sisters: Rose Leindecker, Mildred Atkinson, Lula Wiest, Inga Wiest, and Eliza Clifton; and three brothers: Ralph, James, and Hank Atkinson.

Private family burial was at a later date.
