Sylvina M. Hyer, age 101, of Lancaster, formerly of Bloomington, died on Monday, February 16, 2009, at the Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster. She was born on October 10, 1907, in Fall River, WI, the daughter of Lewis and (Helen Bergner) Field. After attending school, Sylvina became a rural school teacher near Fall River. On November 23, 1932, she was united in marriage to Ralph Hyer in Galena, IL. After their marriage, the couple made their home in the Bloomington area where they farmed. After several years, the couple moved into Bloomington where Ralph was a cheese maker and Sylvina was a librarian. After their retirement, they split their time between Bloomington and Texas. Ralph died on May 10, 1985.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Jake) Weaver, Bagley; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Sylvina was preceded in death by a son, Robert, a sister, Zella Pink and a brother, Gilbert Field.

Funeral services were held on Friday, February 20, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington with Rev. Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Blakes Prairie Cemetery, Bloomington Township. Friends called on Friday, February 20, 2009, from 12:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
