Woodman

WOODMAN - Terry Steffes, passed away on September 11, 2023, peacefully in his home surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer.

Terry worked with heavy equipment as an operating engineer for over 30 years where he was a valued employee for his work ethic, knowledge, and skill to dig in difficult areas. After retirement, he was able to enjoy his love for horses and farming. He had the opportunity to train several horses and even got the chance to break two of his own colts, which was a longtime dream of his. In recent years, Terry especially loved going trail riding, horse camping, and sitting around the campfire with friends.

Terry was proud of his grandchildren and always hoped they would value the land and farm for generations to come. He always enjoyed getting ready for hunting season and would find the best spots to sit with the grandkids so they could experience a successful hunt.

Terry & Janet are blessed with three children and ten grandchildren. Terry is survived by daughter Tanya (Kevin) Johnson and their children Kale and Gwen; daughter Tara (Kevin) Bright and their children Brady, Bodey, Brevin, and Byndi; and son Troy (Jenny) Steffes and their children Katilyn, Cason, Slayton, and Blake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and a very significant couple that served as another set of parents to him and special grandparents to his children.

A celebration of life for Terry will be held at Legion Hall (upstairs of Ma’s Bakery), 122 Congress Street, Bloomington, WI on Saturday, October 14th from 12-4pm. A small luncheon will be prepared. Please bring memories to share.

Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Lancaster is assisting the family.
