Thomas A. Finney, age 88, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. He was born on April 27, 1928, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Arthur and Ada (Perry) Finney. Thomas attended Cassville Schools, enlisting in the United States Navy in February 1946. He served his country as a (FCS2) Fire Controlman for seven years and was recalled during the Korean War. On June 10, 1955, Thomas was united in marriage to Connie Knapp in Dubuque, IA. After their marriage, the couple resided in Cassville. Thomas purchased Finney Implement from his father in 1957 and retired in 1993. After his retirement, he and Connie moved to Lancaster, but Cassville always remained his home. Thomas served on the Volunteer Fire Department in Cassville and was a member of the Thorpe-Taylor American Legion Post No. 551 of Beetown. He was an avid Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed fishing and duck hunting.
Survivors include his loving wife, Connie; their children: John Finney, Thomas (Kris) Finney, Joseph Finney, and one grandchild, Sophia Finney.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ada Finney, his step-mother, Mary Finney, and his sister, Rosalyn (John) Radic.
Funeral services were on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 313 Fredrick, Cassville, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial with military honors was in Cassville Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
