Lancaster

Virginia Rowe, age 89, of Lancaster was called home to the Lord on June 16, 2023. She was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Ethel Ulrich. Virginia graduated with a degree in Home Economics from Iowa State University. On June 12, 1955, Virginia was united in marriage to Duane Rowe in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Following Duane's commission into the United States Army, their adventures began around the US. They also lived in Iowa before settling in Lancaster in 1969.

Virginia loved teaching home economics at Lancaster High School for decades and serving as an adviser to the high school's Future Homemakers of America chapter. She loved and treasured her time with students and fellow teachers. She finished her teaching career at Fennimore High School. She was involved in PEO, a philanthropic women's educational organization for over 50 years.

Virginia enjoyed many volunteer activities, including being a 4-H leader, working at the hospital gift shop, judging home economics projects at various county fairs, and serving for decades as a superintendent at the Grant County Fair.

Virginia was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving in several leadership positions and participated in the Presbyterian Women's group. She was instrumental in organizing funeral luncheons at the church.

Virginia loved being socially active. She played golf and cards, took swim classes, quilted, and traveled, including several cruises.

Survivors include her children: Steve and Dee, two granddaughters and three great granddaughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and her favorite grand puppy Wilson the Golden Retriever.

The celebration of life open house for family and friends will be held at her home in Lancaster on July 15, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A private family service will be held graveside in Iowa.
