William J. Schloesser

William J. Schloesser, age 87, of Bloomington, died on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at Bloomfield Manor Nursing Home in Dodgeville. He was born on April 25, 1921, in Boscobel, the son of Fred and Edith (Burkhardt) Schloesser. On November 20, 1945, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Pease. After their marriage, the couple resided in Bloomington. They later moved to an Army base in Savannah, IL, and then to Milwaukee where William served as an Inspector. He and Elizabeth moved back to Bloomington where he sold Ford cars. Recently, William was employed in Prairie du Chien where he sold mobile homes. William loved the outdoors and was an avid duck hunter and fisherman. He was very well read and enjoyed politics. There was never a time in his life that he did not have a pet dog.

Survivors include his daughters: Sue (Charles) Steudel, Mineral Point; Lynda (Wayne) Oldenburg, Clinton, WI; five grandchildren: Michael (Kim) Baliff, Potosi; Timothy (Shelly) Baliff, Cassville; David Baliff, Potosi; Robert Oldenburg, Clinton, WI; Melinda (Chad) Harwick, Clinton, WI; 6 great-grandchildren; his brother: James Schloesser, Carmichael, CA; sister-in-law, Lorraine Williams, Madison; and his beloved dog, Baxter.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife and his brothers, Jack and Robert.

Private family graveside services were held on Friday, January 2, 2009, with Father John Norder officiating. Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington is assisting the family. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Bloomfield Manor, Ducks Unlimited or your local Humane Society.
