William L. Wetter

LANCASTER – William L. "Bill" Wetter, age 70, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 at his residence. Bill was born June 5, 1947, in Lancaster, the son of Donald and Edith (Harris) Wetter. He graduated from Platteville High School in 1966. Bill was drafted in the United States Army and faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War. On July 13, 1974, he was united into marriage to Rebecca L. "Becky" Browning. After their marriage, Bill became the produce manager for Dick's Supermarket in Platteville and later in Lancaster, retiring in 2007 after 38 years of employment. He was a dedicated member of the Lancaster Fire Department and Jaws of Life for over 24 years and served as Assistant Fire Chief. Bill was a lifetime member of the William Pollock VFW Post 2344 of Lancaster. He enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Warrens, WI, fishing and deer hunting with his friends. Bill dearly loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his loving wife of 43 years, Becky; two daughters: Melissa (Tory) Case; Megan (Kyle) Hiskey; five grandchildren: Brady, Will, Ally, Adelyn, and Aiden; his siblings: Gary (Rosena), Dennis (Kathy), David (Luann) Wetter; Janet Brinkman; Susie Wetter; many nieces and nephews and members of the Browning family.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Booner Brinkman and Robert "Bob" Browning.
Funeral services with military honors will be Friday, March 30, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison, Lancaster, with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Family and friends may call on Thursday, March 29, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at he funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a William L. "Bill" Wetter Memorial Fund is established.
